Garages: the classic
The garage is epoxy's home turf — oil, salt, tires, tools. A flake floor here hides dust, grips underfoot, and cleans with a hose. If you only coat one room, coat this one.
Basements
Fairfax basements fight dampness. Carpet holds moisture and musty smells; epoxy does not absorb either. A basement epoxy floor with a moisture-tolerant system turns the lowest room into usable space — gym, office, playroom. See our basement epoxy page for the moisture details.
Laundry and mudrooms
Small, wet, hard-working rooms. Epoxy shrugs off the washer overflow and the muddy boots, and the seamless surface means no grout lines collecting grime.
Home gyms and workshops
Dropped weights and rolling tool chests punish floors. Flake epoxy with a strong topcoat takes the hits and still mops clean. Add extra flake for grip where you sweat.
Where to skip it
Bedrooms and living rooms, mostly — epoxy feels hard and cool underfoot, and most people want warmth there. And skip standard epoxy anywhere with constant direct sun unless it has a UV-stable topcoat.
